Cops lie all the time about being contact poisoned with fentanyl, saying touching someone using/some contaminated surface RESULTED IN FOUR COPS OVERDOSING AND NEARLY DYING !!!11!!1 despite the fact that this is physically not possible. Primarily it is done to either hide the fact that cops are using, or to fearmonger about fentanyl and addicts. No this cop wasn’t using fentanyl, it was some junkie scum who used and then when the cop touched the desk it was strong enough to make him OD ! Also if fentanyl can make four pigs OD just by touching traces, what would happen if little Jimmy had touched it ? we have to kill junkies to protect our cops and your children !!
The joke is that theyve blown it so far out of proportion that even being faxed an image of fentanyl would cause the whole precinct to OD and keel over dead.

Adding to this, y’all realize that if fentanyl could kill you merely by existing in its presence a lot of healthcare workers and healthcare patients would be dead. Heck, I had to clean up a broken fentanyl vial at work the other day and even touched a droplet of the liquid by accident, and I’m still alive. This isn’t even looking at how stigmatizing drugs and drug users like this makes them less likely to seek help for their situation.

like it might just be me but i think calling anyone’s degree “useless” and “a waste of time” is fucking rude at best. absolutely unnecessary and it’s not just because i’m an english major that’s a fucked up thing to say about any field. there’s a reason all of them exist and the world needs professionals from the fields western society deems “useless” more than ever.
knowledge for the sake of knowledge, learning to really critically think, and collecting that knowledge to share with others will never be useless or a waste of time
hi im complaining about tiktok again and i know this has been said a million times but i despise how the self-censorship that got really popular on there is quickly becoming the norm. why is my podcast that i listen to that is by and for adults and swears regularly censoring the word “sex” in its episode descriptions on spotify, a platform where they dont even censor officially uploaded song titles for songs like “fuck the pain away.” why are there book blurbs using “unalive” completely in earnest. why are people on twitter writing s3x. youtubers can at least handwave having to bleep terms like “heroin” bc that’s specifically a youtube problem but why in an era where everyone is handwringing about how everything is Literally 1984 do people not seem to care about grown adults gleefully regressing into homestuck typing quirks and ugly babytalk

Also these types of elderly folks (not all are like this, but it’s very common) still think of a phone/internet access as a luxury item, and that’s no longer the case. You HAVE to have a phone before you can get a job in order to have hope of paying rent.
And when you point this out, they scoff and say THEY still get along fine without one. Which actually means in reality either a younger relative is handling everything for them that are unwilling/unable to do themselves, or that a lot of annoyed employees everywhere are making a lot of exceptions and doing a lot of extra work to accommodate this elderly person that they wouldn’t be willing (or allowed by their employer) to do for a young person.
